Rescues: December 2010 - Present
Felines in Fatigues

Although the majority of our rescues are dogs, we do occasionally have requests from soldiers to save their cats as well. Our motto is that if the companion animal is important enough for the soldier to want to rescue then they are important enough to us to do so. Battle buddies come in all different sizes, colors and species and we do not discriminate. When our troops ask for our help to rescue their furry friends we gladly offer it and we try our very best to do so on their behalf.

TPRM Rescues
“It's so funny how something as simple as a puppy can make even the hardest, toughened soldier melt upon a few kisses to the face.”

Brutus
Brutus' Story: I am currently deployed with the military in Afghanistan. Our team received Brutus
from one our Afghan friends out in town. He has been named by our team
Brutus. He is now approximately 3 months old, if we had not taken in
Brutus he would of most likely been sold at the local market because he
is an Afghan Koochie dog. If this would have occurred he would have become a
guard dog at one of the local checkpoints or trained to become a
fighting dog. Brutus is a loyal friend to a tight team unit and we want
would like to make sure that Brutus can continue to part of the team in
United States." Brutus will get to live in the CALIFORNIA, USA with his
Soldier Daddy.

King
King's Story: This puppy was found along with the entire litter
and momma dog in a ditch during a snow storm in Kabul. The Soldier
that rescued Priscilla wants to adopt a friend for her. What better dog
to adopt than a cousin of Priscilla. We are calling him King for now
but I am sure this family will have the perfect name for him soon.
He will live in Georgia & will be Living the Life a Dog Deserves. Thank you ALL!

Jack
Jack's Story: From a Marine: Jack is approximately an 18 month old Desert Shepherd, tan in color, who is a victim of the Iraq War. While in Kuwait, I came upon him at a rescue and rehab facility, after I was taken to him and asked if I could help this poor soul to escape the Middle East and the memories of what he went through. He was caught up in a bad situation one day in Iraq, and walked into the wrong place at the wrong time. In addition to being beaten by a local in the skirmish, he was hit in the right rear leg with a high velocity round, which shattered his leg, and left it hanging off with not much left. After being hit by weapons fire, the locals kept beating him to try to end this poor boy's life. But he did not die. He survived to have his leg removed, but bears the emotional scars of his day in combat. Jack is very afraid of people, and shakes and trembles when someone approaches him. He is not aggressive at all in the least, and will allow you to pet him, love him, groom him, and give him all the attention you can muster. He will even give deep belly groans as his way of saying he likes the attention. Some people might interpret this as a growl, but it is just Jack showing his appreciation and happiness at the gentle touch he has not been familiar with.
Jack suffers from PTSD, as so many of us, including myself, who have been in theatre do. Jack needs a warm home with a loving and patient hand who can guide him out of his shell, and allow him to trust again. Jack should be placed in a home with no small children, as the noise and screams will just frighten him. Ideally, Jack should be an only dog to start, as he needs to be the center of attention to learn reassurance and to trust people again after his traumatic experience. Whoever ends up with Jack will be a very lucky person. He is an incredible dog who deserves the chance to make someone happy, and to be happy himself.

Sonia
Sonia's Story: Sonia is a healthy and friendly female koochi hound mix who has been at our shelter in Kabul for more than three years. She was brought to us as an abandoned puppy in Kabul in early 2009 and has been living with us ever since. She gets along well with all kinds of dogs, but she also wants to be around people all the time and is very needy of affection.
She will be going to live in Ohio with a former Marine dog handler and his wife. He had befriended a stray puppy while in Afghanistan and had to leave him behind which is why they are wanting to adopt an afghan dog. Will you help Sonia get to Ohio?
