Puppy Rescue Mission |
|
Reveille I have been in afghanistan for little over a month and have been dealing with some hard times being away from my family during this holiday season! As I moved to a new FOB for a mission I am in charge of a dog named Snookie and I became acquainted with her. She is a loving afghan dog and noticed that she was pregnant! about 2 weeks after being here Snookie gave birth to 5 pups! the first one born was the one i like so much! She is a lover just as a pup and everytime I scratch her little belly she shakes her leg! :) Everyday I become closer and closer with snookie and the pups reminding me of when I first got my black lab, she was loving and funny all together! As my black lab names dookie grew up she became even more of a friend then a pet! She had a great loving and protective personality! About 3-4 years ago she got to the point where we had to put her down which broke my heart and ever since then have been looking for a dog that I could give a loving home where he/she would be taken care of and become a friend like I had in Dookie! That is why I am wanting so desperately to take her home to America with me! I have decided to either name her late if or reveille! thank you for your time! She has made time being away from my family more bearable! |

Hope (Villa Pup)
This little lady is a miracle as her mom was one of the few saved when that Afghan drove his car aiming at the dogs outside the camp, killing one and severally injuring Darak. The mom went into labor and gave birth about an hour after Darak and his mate were hit and the puppies are all small, so she was early. I can only imagine the trauma she went through as a result of that horrific incident.
Another lady from the office here and I have been tending these little guys hourly and daily since they were born. We gave money and had someone go out in town and buy formula for them which they've been lapping up! Better to try and give them a good start in life every dog deserves that, even if they can't all get a great home. I've been making sure that the mom gets several good meals each day also.
We'd love to take this little lady home. She is the smallest and weakest of them all. I named her HOPE~HOPE for her and all the soldiers serving out here to survive and get home to their families in the USA.
Right now, she is about 5 weeks old. I am due to go home to Texas on Jan 25th and would love to be able to take Hope home with me. I'm not sure if this is possible or not. As a paramedic, I could certainly take good medical care of her and watch her in transit. She will be weaned by then and wandering out on her own. Hopefully I can save her before then.
